Amazon Account Health Rating explained
What the rating means, what lowers it, the performance targets that sit next to it, and a daily routine that keeps an Amazon account healthy.
The Account Health Rating (AHR) is Amazon's summary of how well a seller follows its policies. It decides more than most sellers realise: a falling rating can come before a listing removal, a suspension or a deactivation. Here is how to read it and keep it healthy.
The scale
The rating runs from 0 to 1,000. 200 and above is healthy. 100 to 199 is at risk. Under 100 is critical, and an account can be deactivated. The rating is driven by policy violations; each one Amazon counts lowers it, and resolving or appealing them can raise it again.
What lowers the rating
- Listing policy violations and restricted products
- Intellectual property complaints (trademark, copyright, patent)
- Product authenticity and condition complaints
- Product safety complaints and regulatory compliance
- Food and product safety issues, reviews manipulation and other policy violations Amazon adds over time
Performance targets next to the rating
Amazon also measures customer service performance. These sit next to the rating on the Account Health page:
- Order Defect Rate under 1%: orders with negative feedback, an A-to-z claim or a chargeback.
- Late shipment rate under 4% (merchant-fulfilled orders).
- Pre-fulfillment cancellation rate under 2.5% (merchant-fulfilled orders).
- Valid tracking rate above 95% (merchant-fulfilled orders).
A daily routine that keeps it healthy
- Look at the rating and the list of policies with violations every day, not only when Amazon emails.
- Act on each new violation within days: fix the listing, remove the product or appeal with evidence.
- Ship merchant orders before the ship-by date with valid tracking; message buyers about any delay.
- Answer buyer messages within 24 hours and refund returns on time.
- Fix listings with errors before they become violations.
