How it is calculated
Days of cover = (units at Amazon + inbound) ÷ units sold per day.
Reorder point = units sold per day × (lead time + safety days).
Order quantity = units sold per day × (lead time + safety days + days a delivery should last) − units at Amazon and inbound, rounded up to whole case packs.
Questions sellers ask
How do I calculate a reorder point?
Units sold per day × (lead time + safety days). When stock on hand plus inbound falls to that number, place the order.
How much safety stock should I keep?
Enough days to cover a late shipment or a sales jump: often 7 to 14 days of sales, more for long or unreliable supply chains and for best sellers whose stock-outs also cost rank.
What lead time should I use?
Days from placing the order with your supplier until the units are available to sell at Amazon: production, shipping, customs and Amazon's receiving time.
Why round to case packs?
Suppliers ship full cartons, and FBA shipments are planned by box. The calculator rounds the order up to whole case packs.
